For those that took the time to read the Republican Alternative Budget, you might have been enamoured by the forward projections that show smaller deficits plus an optional tax brackets of 10 percent and 25 percent.  Too good to be true?  Well yes.  The Republican projections are based on making the Bush tax cuts permanent, that is the upper brackets are 33 pct and 35 pct. The option of 10 and 25 percent brackets are for enticing people into believing that you can have your cake and eat it too.

The Center for Tax Justice has analyzed the effect of the optional 10 and 25 percent brackets for the year 2010. The Top 1 percent of tax payers make out like a bandit. Take a look.
