an interesting article
from the Daily Kos by Marlene Winell, PhD and former Christian fundamentalist that raises serious questions about Palin's mental capacity to make decisions that are not influenced by her church doctrine. Unlike George Bush who shaped his world views many years before he became a "born again Christian", Sarah Palin has been a member of her Assembly of God church since the age of 12. At that age, one's thinking is more conducive to "permanent indoctrination" into church beliefs. When asked by Katie Couric what newspapers, journals and magazines she has read that helped shape her world views she could not name any specifically...just claiming to have "read them all". As a journalist major, it is astounding that she could not name a single one. But maybe she felt that she didn't need to read those periodicals if her world view was entirely shaped by her church doctrine. Now that's a scary thought. The former Bush people that are giving her a crash course on government and world views will have a hard time separating her from her church. Read Winell's open letter to Sarah Palin and think about it. When that 3:00 am phone call comes, will her thoughts and decision be based on what she has learned in Crash Course 101 or by her Assembly of God church?
