Bush Will Seek to End Offshore Oil Drilling Ban link

President Bush, reversing a longstanding position, will call on Congress to end a federal ban on offshore oil drilling. Mr. Bush now wants to work with states to determine where drilling should occur, but states would have a veto on oil exploration within 100 miles of their coastlines. Mr. Bush now wants to work with states to determine where drilling should occur. The Congressional moratorium was first enacted in 1982, and has been renewed every year since.
