The Nuclear Energy Institute claims to be "the policy organization of the nuclear energy and technologies industry and participates in both the national and global policy-making process." An opposing critic labels NEI as "the propaganda wing and trade group for the American nuclear industry [which] spends millions of dollars annually to engineer public opinion."
